The Scaffaiolo Lake is a mountain lake located in the municipality of Fanano, in the province of Modena, nestled in the upper Modenese Apennines. Its location and characteristics make it a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts. The name “Scaffaiolo” is believed to derive from the Lombard word scaffa, which translates as “hollow in the ground” or “depression.” This name reflects the area’s geomorphological features that shape the lake’s surroundings—an area characterized by gentle depressions and mountain ridges.

Valdibrana
Piccola frazione di Pistoia, nota per la stazione ferroviaria lungo la linea Porrettana e per il suo binario di lanciamento. Nei dintorni sorge il santuario della Madonna di Valdibrana, sorto nel 1650 sul sito di un piccolo oratorio che, già dalla fine del XIV secolo, custodiva un'immagine miracolosa della Vergine.

From Rombiciaio to Orsigna
Descending in a south-west direction, and crossing a lovely beech wood, we arrive at the Passo del Rombiciaio where, entering the CAI Path n.53, we begin a gruelling descent that will take us back to Orsigna. Before completing our adventure, we can enjoy the delightful lanes of this pretty hamlet, admire its two windmills and why not? taste the excellent food and wine that this area offers.
Castagno di Piteccio
Fondato attorno al 1600 il borgo è in realtà un museo a cielo aperto. Grazie al critico d’arte Tommaso Paloscia, che amava villeggiare qui, dal 1975 al 2004 Castagno ha ereditato un importante patrimonio artistico diventando un borgo con un museo a cielo aperto. Una preziosa collezione alla quale si aggiungono sempre nuove opere, anche oltre le “mura”, segnando l’inizio di un progetto di diffusione del museo verso il paesaggio attorno e creando così nuovi percorsi lenti tra arte e natura. Ad oggi, a Castagno si possono contare ben 60 opere d’arte. Per contarle tutte è necessario guardarsi bene attorno.
